Hanbury Preservation Consulting worked with Preservation Virginia to develop a plan that built on the foundations of a statewide historic context and the organizing and advocacy work that Preservation Virginia had already started. The document acknowledged strong partnerships with existing funders, Rosenwald School alumni associations, the National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Virginia Community College network. One key to the project was to develop a framework that captured existing activity and proposed future work into a logical methodology of identification, interpretation, and advocacy. Action steps, milestones, and budgets were developed and communicated both chronologically and thematically. Finally the plan considered future steps that would allow the growing network of Rosenwald supporters to develop their own strategy for sustainable financial independence.
