Working as a part of an interdisciplinary team under the direction of Hanbury Evans, Hanbury Preservation Consulting developed and wrote the historic preservation component of the University of Kansas’ Masterplan. The historic preservation component was based on the existing Getty-funded Heritage Plan, and included its recommendations with a pragmatic overview of the regulatory and administrative parameters for preservation into the larger vision for the University’s future. The module also used a case study to illustrate decision making matrices for preservation and provided technical and financial resources for reference. By developing policy recommendation for historic preservation within the larger master planning process, historic preservation is now integrated into the values that will guide the University’s future development.
